I'm having a hard time getting a grasp on this season. Part of that is I haven't rewatched it. Part of that is I think it's their most uneven season, and it feels like some themes dropped out of focus somewhere along the way. I tend to enjoy individual episodes but have a hard time seeing how they all fit together as a whole for the characters, thematically. I do want to rewatch the entire thing when it's done, I like being able to wrap my head around what they were trying to do, even if the execution was off.
Anyway, I'd love to hear thoughts. Positive or negative!
Technology is amazing. Posting while on the bus back to DC from NYC where I saw "Sleep No More" with
quigonejinn and her mr. A. If you get the chance to see it I highly recommend going, it's quite an experience. I'd describe it like "Eyes Wide Shut" meets "The Shining" meets David Lynch meets modern dance set in the best haunted house ever.
So for a second week in a row I haven't seen the new SPN yet. I saw last week's ep and haven't had time to really process it or post on it. Overall I thought it was both dense and a little uneven (I think some of the crits I have might be with Edlund the director rather than Edlund the writer but IDK) but had a lot of juicy stuff. I can't wait till I get home and can see this week's ep, and whether my cat has disowned me for being gone more than I've been home the past two weeks!

Haven't seen the new SPN yet but dying due to all the spoilers I have seen.
rating: PG-13, gen
summary: Sam’s never understood anything, not really, and Dean’s never wanted him to. But he always tries, even for the stuff Dean himself doesn’t understand. Dean’s never known what to do with that.
words: 9,962
notes: takes place in season 5 in between "Dark Side of the Moon" and "99 Problems."
Fits with earlier stories: Or where you go, or where you've been and all the fear of the Lord I was given.
Sam takes the first shower. They bicker back and forth about it for a minute half-heartedly, but Dean needs to not see Sam with blood all over him right now and maybe Sam figures that out because after a couple of rounds of you first, no you, no you, will you please just take a fucking shower already Sam grabs his duffel and disappears into the shitty, mildew-stained bathroom.

Yes, it's a Supernatural/House of Leaves fusion fic. It's amazing. It's. I haven't laughed this hard in a really long time. Tears of laughter.
Tears.
The voices, the commentary, the injokes, EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL.
REAAAAD
I can't help but feel like she is a big part of the heart of the show, and the person on staff who knew the characters and themes the best, and I'm going to miss her. I really hope fandom's at times disgusting and misogynist treatment of her doesn't have anything to do with her leaving the show, but in this era of TPTB keeping an eye on fandom, it's hard to imagine she didn't at least get a whiff.
Cumulatively I think she's probably my favorite writer. I hope she goes on to tons of success.
